CHINA, Maine — A transient couple were arrested Wednesday in connection with burglaries at camps on Lakeview Drive on China Lake, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Friday in a news release.
Jamee D. Lemons, 27, and Samuel Cook, 32, were arrested Wednesday by the Maine State Police, McCausland said. He said that Lemons and Cook, who are boyfriend and girlfriend, were transients.
“They broke into a home and damaged the inside of the home while they stayed there for several days,” McCausland said, adding that the damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
Cook also admitted to breaking into a nearby residence and stealing items, McCausland said.
McCausland said that during the course of the investigation, troopers were led to the Brunswick area, where both suspects briefly had obtained jobs at fast-food restaurants. Lemons and Cook eventually were tracked down and arrested at a motel in Belfast.
Lemons was on probation and wanted on a warrant out of Tennessee. She was charged with burglary.
Cook had a warrant out of Waldo County. He was charged with two counts of burglary as well as theft by unauthorized taking and aggravated criminal mischief.
Both were taken to Kennebec County Jail.
