SANGERVILLE, Maine — Police are searching for a pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run accident on Pleasant Avenue in which a man suffered a cut to his head and was hospitalized, officials said Sunday.
Rescue services were sent to Pleasant Avenue at about 7 p.m. Saturday on a report of a man hit by a car. When they arrived, they found the man and soon determined it was a hit-and-run, according to information released by the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Office.
A LifeFlight helicopter was called, but the service was grounded by inclement weather. The victim was taken to a hospital where he remains in stable condition, according to the office.
The name of the victim was not available.
Sheriff’s office Investigator Dave Wilson, who is handling the investigation, was not on duty on Sunday morning.
The sheriff’s office alerted other police agencies to look for the truck, which is described as blue-ish, two-doored and carrying a ladder rack. It should have a missing passenger-side mirror and headlight, as well as front-end damage, according to the office.
Anyone with information about the incident or truck is asked to call 564-3304.
