SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — South Portland police announced on Thursday afternoon that they have apprehended a man wanted on 15 arrest warrants.
Michael Allan Thurston, 36, was taken into custody without incident Thursday, according to a news release issued by Lt. Todd Bernard of the South Portland Police Department.
“The South Portland Police Department received information from Gorham police about a subject wanted on 15 state-issued arrest warrants,” Bernard stated, in part. “Officers Ben Macisso and Scott Corbett tracked him to an address in the 800 block of Broadway in an unoccupied third floor apartment.”
The warrants were issued by police in Gorham, Biddeford, Westbrook, Windham, Yarmouth and Portland, as well as the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Maine State Police and Maine State Probation and Parole, Bernard said.
“The warrants for his arrest were mostly theft-related offenses, such as negotiating worthless instruments [passing bad checks], theft and burglary,” Bernard said.
Thurston is being held at the Cumberland County Jail, the lieutenant added.
