CHESTERVILLE, Maine — A local man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and others at a party at a Vienna Road residence, sheriff’s deputies said.
The series of events leading to the arrest of Scott Lagace, 21, occurred around 9:30 p.m. when police responded to an assault complaint, according to Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Police were quickly able to determine an altercation had taken place due to the damage of the residence and injuries to individuals, according to Nichols. Lagace and others at the gathering had been consuming alcohol.
After it was determined Lagace was the primary offender and as police went to arrest him, he became combative with deputies, refusing to submit to arrest, Nichols said.
Eventually, Lagace was placed in a cruiser, but he started banging a head against a window, upon which deputies placed him in leg irons and took him to Franklin Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to Nichols.
During transport to the hospital, Lagace continued to act belligerent, the sheriff said. Upon being released, he was taken to Franklin County Jail.
Lagace was charged with domestic violence assault and assault on a police officer, both Class C felonies, along with criminal mischief, criminal restraint, two counts of providing liquor to a minor, two counts of assault and refusing to submit to arrest.
The domestic violence charge was levied to a felony due to prior domestic assault charges on Lagace’s record.
