BANGOR, Maine — Pepino’s Mexican Restaurant lights its burners for the first time in its new downtown Bangor location late Monday morning, the owners said Sunday in an email.
The restaurant is hosting a private soft opening Sunday evening at its new spot, the former site of Luna Bar & Grill on Park Street, and will open to the public at 11 a.m. Monday, according to Susan Stephenson, who has owned the business alongside her husband, Michael “Andy” Stephenson, since 2010.
Pepino’s left the Stillwater Avenue location near the mall that it’s called home since 1996. There has been an influx in Mexican-themed restaurants in that area since then, including Miguel’s, Las Palapas and the soon-to-open Chipotle.
The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.
