GREENSBORO, North Carolina — Two skaters from Maine earned an eighth-place finish on Saturday during the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Franz-Peter Jerosch of Yarmouth and his partner, Lindsey Stevenson of Southborough, Massachusetts, who represent the Skating Club of Boston, are coached by Bobby Martin and Carrie Wall.
It was the first appearance at the nationals for Jerosch and Stevenson, who started skating together a year ago. The pair had earned the gold medal at the Boston Open, then secured their spot in the nationals by taking silver at the 2015 U.S. Eastern Sectional Championships held in November.
Jerosch attends Harrison Middle School in Yarmouth. Last season, he was the only Maine skater to qualify for the 2014 U.S. Championships, where he placed 8th in Juvenile Boys division.
Jerosch is also an accomplished musician and is a member of the first clarinet section of the Portland Youth Wind Ensemble for high school students. He also was first chair clarinet in the District II Middle School Honors band.
Stevenson is a sophomore at Algonquin Regional High School in Southborough, Massachusetts. She has been skating since age 2 and earned a pair of gold medals from U.S. Figure Skating by passing tests in both Senior Moves in the Field and Senior Freestyle.
The North Atlantic Figure Skating Club, of which Jerosch is a member, is run under the auspices of U.S. Figure Skating and has made its home at the Family Ice Center in Falmouth since 1998.
