BANGOR, Maine — A 55-year-old local transient was struck by a vehicle on Outer Hammond Street on Monday night, a Bangor Police Department official said.

Neither the name of the injured man nor that of the woman who struck him were being released Monday night, Lt. Cathy Rumsey said.

According to Rumsey, the man was struck by a Chevrolet S10 pickup shortly after 5 p.m. in front of the Leadbetter’s Super Stop at 1105 Hammond St. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries, she said.

Additional information about his medical condition was not available Monday night.

The driver who struck him was not injured, Rumsey said.

Rumsey said the Bangor Police Department’s Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division and accident reconstruction specialists are working to determine how the accident happened.
