BANGOR, Maine — A man suspected in the suspicious death of a Michigan woman may have been spotted in Maine, according to police.

Harold “Butch” Knight, 66, is the husband of the victim, Sara Lee Knight, 48, according to Capt. Frank Baker of the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office in Michigan. An arrest warrant has been issued for Knight.

“We’ve been receiving some tips that he’d been in [Maine],” Baker said Thursday afternoon. He said that there have been several reported sightings of Knight in Maine, as well as in the Midwest.

“We’ve gotten some that have not panned out but these ones [from Maine] appear to be credible,” he said.

We’re confident it’s him” based on the description Michigan authorities provided of the light green 2009 Subaru Forester that Knight is believed to be traveling in.

The vehicle, registered to Sara Lee Knight, bears a Michigan license plate of GM74A. Knight’s body was found in her home in Ganges Township on Jan. 13, according to WZZM TV.

Baker said he did not yet have any details about where in Maine the sighting or sightings took place and that Knight might still be on the move.

“Right now, we’re just going to continue to investigate any leads and tips,” he said, adding that Allegan County authorities have been working with their counterparts in Maine and elsewhere to locate Knight.

Sara Lee Knight has ties to the Androscoggin County town of Turner and police said earlier that they believed Harold Knight might be headed to Maine.

Anyone who sees the vehicle or has more information should call the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office at 269-673-0500.
