ORIENT, Maine — A local road was shut down for several hours Thursday after a tractor-trailer overturned and spilled its load of logs.
The accident happened on the Number 9 Road after Robert Grass, 29, who was operating the loaded log truck, rode onto the soft shoulder and lost control of the rig, according to the Maine State Police.
The vehicle skidded onto its side, spilling all of the logs out onto the road.
The driver injured his ear in the accident and was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital by private vehicle.
The Number 9 Road was shut down for several hours as crews righted the truck, removed the logs and cleaned up oil that had spilled out.
Grass was summoned for various violations by Trooper Recruit Gavin Endre and members of the state police commercial vehicle inspection unit. Trooper Jared Sylvia was the primary investigator.
