OLD TOWN, Maine — Two officers and a detective from the Old Town Police Department did a probation check on a convicted drug dealer Friday night and found nearly 2 ounces of white powder that tested positive for cocaine, Old Town police Sgt. Lee Miller said Saturday.

Sarah J. Lemery, 32, who has a 2011 drug trafficking conviction, and her boyfriend, Jamel Slaughter, 31, formerly of Bronx, New York, who also has a drug trafficking conviction from 2011, were both charged with Class A aggravated drug trafficking after the 8 p.m. raid, Miller said.

“During the probation search of the residence, 46.9 grams of a white powder that tested positive for cocaine was located,” the sergeant said.

In Maine, cocaine is selling for about $100 per gram, Miller said.

“It’s the most I’ve ever seen,” the sergeant said.

Old Town police Officer James Slauenwhite, Detective Jordan Norton and Miller went to the Bennoch Road residence of Lemery and Slaughter and were later joined by members of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, Orono Police Department and Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office, Miller said. The drugs were allegedly found inside a bed in the office, and $1,130 in cash taken as evidence.

Slaughter was convicted of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs in 2011, and in January 2012, she was sentenced to a fine of $400 and three years in prison with all but nine months suspended and restitution of $300, according to Bangor Daily News archives.

“Lemery was convicted of trafficking in 2011 and served 18 months,” Miller said.

Both Slaughter and Lemery were taken to Penobscot County Jail. She remained in prison on a probation violation associated with her prior conviction, and he was released on bail, a jail official said Saturday night.
