NAPLES, Maine — A Windham man was arrested early Saturday morning in the parking lot of Bray’s Brew Pub after allegedly crashing his car into other vehicles while intoxicated, and then kicking a sheriff’s deputy in the chest.
Jason P. Grimes, 39, was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, a Class C felony, as well as misdemeanor operating under the influence, according to a release from Lt. Donald Foss of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrived at the pub on Roosevelt Trail just after 12:15 a.m. Saturday and determined that Grimes, who was allegedly “heavily intoxicated,” had struck two vehicles while trying to leave in his 2001 Jeep Cherokee. All three vehicles had minor damage.
When the arresting deputy attempted to place Grimes in the police cruiser, he allegedly kicked the deputy several times in the chest. The deputy was not injured.
Grimes was released from Cumberland County Jail on $560 cash bail, according to a jail official. He is scheduled to appear in Bridgton District Court on March 17.
