CARIBOU, Maine — A young man died Monday morning after fire swept through a mobile home on Dow Siding Road, according to Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The body of Jordan McEwen, 18, was found in a bedroom of the home shortly after 10 a.m., McCausland said.

McEwen, who had been living at the home with his mother and brother since November, died of smoke inhalation, McCausland said.

McEwen had moved into the residence after the apartment house in Caribou where he had been living was damaged by fire, and he was suspected of setting that blaze, McCausland said, adding it is likely that McEwen started this morning’s fire as well.

McEwen’s mother and brother were not home at the time of the blaze.
