ROCKLAND, Maine — James Kalloch is the Republicans’ formal nominee for the March 10 special election to fill a vacant Maine House seat.
Eleven Republicans turned out Tuesday evening for a five-minute-long caucus on the top floor of the Trade Winds Motor Inn.
Kalloch was unopposed for the nomination. He represented his party in November when he fell short of defeating Democratic Rep. Elizabeth Dickerson of Rockland. Dickerson resigned last month after moving to Colorado for personal and professional reasons.
Democrats will gather at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at Rockland City Hall to nominate their candidate. The Green Party has said it also will hold a caucus to select a candidate before Feb. 9, which is the deadline for both party and unenrolled candidates to file with the Maine secretary of state.
The special election will be held Tuesday, March 10.
