CARIBOU, Maine — Winter-weary Mainers won’t get much of a break from shoveling and plowing, as another winter storm is projected to move into the area Wednesday night and last into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
While this storm isn’t forecast to be as intense as the last few, up to 8 inches of snow are expected Down East, according to the weather service.
Down East communities have been hit extremely hard by the last three storms, with Eastport picking up a whopping 76 inches of snow since Jan. 24, according to the weather service.
A low-pressure system is forecast to move across the state Wednesday night into Thursday, and a winter weather advisory has been posted for northern Washington, southern Penobscot and Hancock counties, according to the weather service.
Those areas are expected to pick up 3-6 inches of snow, and the alerts are in place from 11 p.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday.
Central and coastal Washington County is under a winter storm watch, with 6 to 8 inches of snow forecast.
