The mayor of Toledo, Ohio, died on Friday after six days in a hospital in critical condition following a cardiac arrest he suffered while driving, the city said in a statement.
Mayor D. Michael Collins, 70, had been at the University of Toledo Medical Center since Sunday.
Collins, a retired Toledo police officer and former Marine, was sworn into the office in January 2014 after serving as a city councilor.
