STETSON, Maine — A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon after making threats to harm his ex-girlfriend and himself, police said.

Carl Stevens, 42, is accused of domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing, according to Chief Deputy William Sheehan of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.

Stevens had told dispatchers that he had a weapon, according to Sheehan.

During a brief standoff, Village Road was shut down for over an hour while deputies negotiated with Stevens, who eventually surrendered peacefully, Sheehan said.

No injuries occurred in the incident and Stevens was brought to Penobscot County Jail, according to Sheehan.
