NEW LIMERICK, Maine — A Linneus man has been indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury on a number of charges stemming from an alleged crime spree last fall.

Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins released the indictment list from the grand jury’s second session of the year on Friday.

Robert Brewer, 22, was indicted on charges of theft of a firearm, burglary, and theft with priors. The charges stem from crimes that allegedly occurred in September and November 2014, according to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Sheriff Stewart Kennedy went looking on Sunday, Jan. 11, for Brewer and his 19-year-old brother Cody Brewer, at their father’s home on Station Road in New Limerick, according to Aroostook County Sheriff Darrell Crandall. Between the two brothers, there were five active arrest warrants at the time for failure to appear in court and for unpaid fines, according to Crandall.

The sheriff added that Robert Brewer was suspected in burglaries in September and November. Several firearms and a canoe were among items stolen during a burglary on Route 2 in New Limerick last November, Crandall said. A truck, a tractor, a car, a trailer and a storage shed reportedly were taken in another burglary reported in Moro last September. Deputies recovered many of the stolen items, according to the sheriff.

Both men were arrested on Jan. 11. Cody Brewer, who was not indicted this month by the grand jury, was charged last month on the outstanding warrants for failure to appear and for unpaid fines.
