PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Two individuals escaped a burning mobile home but lost all of their possessions in a fire Tuesday evening in Presque Isle.

The home was destroyed by the fire.

The occupants were alerted to the blaze, which started just after 11 p.m., by working smoke detectors, Capt. Vince Baldwin of the Presque Isle Fire Department said Wednesday.

Greg McLaughlin Jr. owned the home at 22 Caron St., where he lived with one other person and a dog, Baldwin said.

He said the origin of the fire was from the wood stove.

Baldwin added that the home was not insured, and the Red Cross has been contacted to help the family.

Caribou Fire Department assisted in fighting the blaze.
