MACHIAS, Maine — The University of Maine-Presque Isle Owls surged to a seven-point halftime lead and then outscored UM-Machias 26-10 in the second half to earn a 57-34 victory over the Clippers in women’s basketball action Thursday night.
Brigitte Pratt sparked UMPI with 15 points, six rebounds and two steals. Darby Toth chipped in with 12 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals while Katie Patenaude added 11 points.
Alicen Brooks paced the Clippers with 12 points.
EMCC 53, Unity 32
At Bangor, Morgan Card notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to guide Eastern Maine Community College by Unity.
Card added four assists and two steals for EMCC while Jordan Maxwell chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Courtney James added nine points.
Shelby Hall paced Unity with 14 points and seven rebounds. Melinda Gray added 11 points.
Men’s Basketball
UMM 68, UMPI 68
At Machias, the UMaine-Machias Clippers used a balanced scoring attack to surge past UM-Presque Isle.
Dreu Johnson sparked the Clippers with 15 points and five rebounds. Ivory Sneed chipped in with nine points and six rebounds and Antwan Ruise added eight points. UMM outrebounded UMPI 28-19.
Chase Vicaire paced the Owls with 16 points and Kevin Collins added 12. Brandon McGill contributed six points and six rebounds.
EMCC 95, Unity 74
At Bangor, Brett Deniger scored 20 points and Jeremy Santiago added 19 as Eastern Maine Community College rolled by Unity.
Keyshawn Hampton added 13 points for EMCC, Martavious Lockhart put in 12, Isaiah Magee netted 11 and Divine Bens had 10.
Sean Tocci poured in 31 points to lead the Rams and Jacob Scoville added 16.
Suffolk 66, St. Joseph’s 55
At Boston, Matt Duquette scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half to lead Suffolk by St. Joseph’s.
Steve Simonds paced St. Joseph’s with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Zach Blodgett chipped in with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
