RANGELEY, Maine — The manhunt for a murder suspect could focus on Rangeley after reports came in that was spotted by several people near an area motel.
Police in Michigan said 66-year-old Harold Knight strangled his wife, Sara Knight, last month. Investigators believe Knight traveled to Maine, ditched his car in Franklin County and dyed his hair and mustache black.
Witnesses in Rangeley said they’ve seen Knight and may have stayed at Town and Lake Motel. He asked locals about snowmobile trails.
“You can go to Canada, you can go to southern Maine. The trail system is such that you can go anywhere in the state,” Henry Colby with Moose Loop Shop said. “You can go to New Hampshire.”
Witnesses said Knight also shopped at the only grocery store in Rangeley, picking up vodka, chips, snacks and soda.
Knight and his wife once lived in Turner.
Police in Michigan think Knight could be in Canada.
