BREWER — The Brewer Kiwanis Club reports that it met Feb. 11 at City Side Restaurant in Brewer with club President Debbie Bruns leading the Pledge of Allegiance. She introduced guests Lt. Governor Glenn Mower of Division 3 of New England District of Kiwanis and Rebecca Leaming of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine.

Past president Karl Laurenovics gave a summary of the Brewer Kiwanis Make-A-Wish Gala and presented a check for $24,000 to Leaming for Make-A-Wish of Maine. The donation will grant the wishes of four children.

Make-A-Wish Maine grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Wishes are granted in all Maine counties — on average one every five days.

Secretary and Kiwanis Key Club adviser Herb Hopkins reported that four Key Club members and their adviser will attend the New England District Key Club Convention in Massachusetts in April.

Guest speaker was Kiwanis Lt. Governor Glenn Mower. He brought the club up to date on District happenings and said that Brewer Kiwanis reports and bylaws were up-to-date. He gave the club a DVD from Kiwanis International explaining the new membership drive.

Kiwanis will hold a Mid-winter Conference March 20-22 in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

The next meeting of the Brewer Kiwanis will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the High Tide Restaurant in Brewer.
