HERMON, Maine — No injuries were reported in a fire that damaged a home on Route 2 on Sunday night, according to Hermon Fire Chief Ray Pipes.
The fire was reported shortly before 7 p.m., Pipes said Monday afternoon. Smoke was pouring out of the basement when firefighters arrived.
Pipes said the fire started in the basement and crews from six communities were able to get it under control quickly.
The chief said the state fire marshal’s office was working to determine a cause.
Crews from Carmel, Levant, Hampden, Hermon, Glenburn and Stetson went to the home.
