VASSALBORO, Maine — School is canceled Monday at the Vassalboro Community School after a building there caught fire.
The Vassalboro Fire Department said they received the call around 10:45 Sunday morning.
Vassalboro fire Chief Eric Rowe said a tractor that was being used to move snow had a hydraulic fluid leak, and the driver parked it in a garage at the school. Rowe said that when the driver went back outside to shovel snow, the tractor caught fire.
Rowe said with the help of the Winslow Fire Department, crews were able to put out the fire in about an hour. There was significant smoke and water damage, but it was contained to that building.
No one was hurt.
