RAYMOND, Maine — A Raymond home is a total loss after a fire spread through the entire house and caused the roof to collapse on Wednesday.

The home was in a heavily wooded area, and fire crews had to battle the house fire and simultaneously wet down the surrounding trees so the fire didn’t spread.

Raymond had to call multiple other towns in to help due to lack of water.

Crews were able to save a garage nearby, but weren’t able to save the house.

“The fire was as tall as the trees when they arrived just minutes later. The wind off the water had blown it through the house and it was really devastating,” said Chief Bruce Tupper of the Raymond Fire Department.

Fire marshal’s office investigators will look into the cause.

The one person at home at the time of the fire was able to make it out safely.
