MAPLETON, Maine — Three people in two vehicles escaped serious injury Wednesday afternoon after one driver lost control of her car and slid into another car, according to Sgt. Josh Haines of the Maine State Police.

Arianna Forbes, 18, of Castle Hill was traveling north on Parsons Road in Mapleton in a 2001 Volkswagon Beetle when she lost control on a curve, Haine said Thursday morning.

Forbes’ traveled back into the lane where she was struck by a 2009 Toyota Camry operated by Lelan Caron,44, of Washburn.

Both cars sustained significant damage and were towed from the scene, Haines said.

Forbes, Caron and a young passenger in Caron’s car sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene, according to Haines. All three were wearing safety belts at the time of the accident.

Washburn Police Department, Washburn Fire and Crown Ambulance assisted at the scene.
