WATERVILLE, Maine — A Vassalboro man faces a felony theft charge after allegedly embezzling nearly $17,000 from the All Pro Sports Center, Kennebec County District Attorney Maeghan Maloney said Thursday.

Ervin Morrison, 54, was arraigned on a Class B charge earlier this week, according to Maloney.

If convicted he faces up to 10 years behind bars. Maloney said he was released from jail with a pre-trial contract.

Maloney said Morrison used to be an employee at the West River Road sports training facility.

Morrison was arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft on Sunday night, Maloney said.

According to Maloney, the thefts occurred between mid-December 2014 and mid-January 2015, when the facility’s owner contacted police, prompting an investigation.

Maloney said Morrison will next appear in court on March 26.
