ROCKLAND, Maine — The Knox County Probate Office, located on the first floor of the Knox County Courthouse, will accept U.S. passport applications starting March 1 on behalf of the U.S. Department of State.
The U.S. Post Office in Rockland will continue to offer that service as well.
U.S. citizens planning international travel may apply for their passports at the Knox County Probate Office between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for on holidays when the office is closed.
No appointment is necessary, and the office is handicapped accessible. The office does not have the ability to do passport photos, so citizens will need to bring a passport-appropriate photo with them for the application.
The office cannot accept credit cards for payment of fees but will accept cash or check.
For application forms, information on documentation required, fees, and other passport and international travel information, visit http://travel.state.gov.
