HOULTON, Maine — A 15-year-old Houlton girl who had not been seen since she left home on Tuesday was located Friday evening at a relative’s home in Pennsylvania.
Houlton Police Chief Joe McKenna said that Marissa Border, who left home sometime on the night of Feb. 24, was currently being interviewed by authorities in Pennsylvania about how she got there from Maine.
McKenna said he believes that she just arrived and had not been there the entire time.
McKenna had indicated earlier Friday that police believed the teen was a runaway, and not in any immediate danger. Police had been conducting interviews in an effort to locate her.
McKenna said officers worked diligently on the case.
The chief said the department’s initial post about the missing teen received good response on social media sites.
He said that a family member would likely be headed out to Pennsylvania to get her.
“I am glad it all ended well and she is safe,” McKenna said Friday evening.
