CASCO, Maine — A man was taken to a hospital Monday night after a home invasion on Timbuktu Drive, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the residence shortly after 6 p.m., according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The caller had reported a man had entered the home and assaulted a resident, the statement said. The intruder had knocked on the door, and when the door was opened, he allegedly beat the male resident with his fist, nearly knocking him unconscious.

The victim’s girlfriend was also present at the home and was not hurt.

The 31-year-old victim was transported to Maine Medical Center and remains hospitalized with significant facial and shoulder injuries, according to the statement. No weapons were used in the attack.

The suspect, who is not known to the homeowners, is a white male between 25-35 years of age, standing between 6 feet 2 and 6 feet 4 inches tall. He has short brown hair with a trimmed beard and moustache. He was wearing a long black trenchcoat.
