GRAY, Maine — As if Mainers haven’t had enough winter weather, the entire state was under a winter weather advisory Tuesday in advance of a system expected to hit the state Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service is predicting between 3 and 5 inches of snow throughout the state, though northern portions of the state could receive up to 6 inches.

While accumulation predictions aren’t as high as they’ve been throughout winter, travel conditions Tuesday night and into the Wednesday morning commute are expected to be hazardous, according to the weather service.

Snowfall is expected to start sometime after sunset Tuesday and last into early Wednesday morning, according to the weather service.

Temperatures are expected to warm into the 40s during the day Wednesday.
