The Italian company Modula plans to invest $6 million at its System Logistics manufacturing plant in Lewiston that officials said could bring about 70 new jobs to the plant that employs about 50 people.

The Sun Journal reported that Modula spokesman Rob Dolci confirmed the investment at the plant that makes high-tech storage systems and conveyor belts used by hospitals, the military and other manufacturers.

The paper reported that new equipment will start to arrive this month.

The Italian newspaper Gazetta Di Reggio reported in December that the company has grown its business 80 percent in the last two years, bringing in new industrial and warehouse customers to use its automated inventory management and storage systems.

Modula is headquartered in Casalgrande, Italy.
