PORTLAND, Maine — Police are looking for a man they say robbed a gas station at knifepoint Wednesday night.

Police say a white male went into the Citgo on Brighton Avenue with a knife, demanding money. In just under a minute, officers say he got away with under $50, was out the door and in a car.

Five police cruisers, a police dog unit and a crime scene unit were on the scene just minutes after the cashier reported the robbery. Police used the police dog to track the suspect’s scent, but the dog lost it behind the gas station where the man got into a car.

According to police, there are a handful of cameras inside and outside of the store and they are looking at the video. Police said Wednesday night that people in the area don’t have any reason to be worried.
