THOMASTON, Maine — Selectmen will have to appoint a replacement on the regional school board after the resignation of one of the town’s two representatives.

David Hynd submitted his resignation to the town on Thursday. In his letter of resignation, Hynd said Friday he does not have the necessary time to dedicate to the position and wants to spend the time he has with his family.

Hynd was elected to the position in November as a write-in candidate.

Thomaston has two members on the 11-member Regional School Unit 13 Board. The district also encompasses Rockland, St. George, Owls Head, South Thomaston and Cushing.

The resignation was effective immediately. His term was to run through June 2017.

If the board appoints someone to the post, the person would serve until June.
