WINSLOW, Maine — A local man is facing a felony theft charge after allegedly stealing over $15,000 from the town’s travel soccer club over a five-year period, according to Police Chief Shawn O’Leary.
Charles Spaulding, 43, was formally charged with Class B felony theft on Tuesday, according to O’Leary. His arraignment is scheduled for June 9.
On Nov. 28, the executive board of the Winslow Travel Soccer Club contacted police after discovering financial irregularities within the club’s bank accounts, according to O’Leary.
During the investigation, Detective Ron McGowen discovered that more than $15,000 had been stolen, O’Leary said.
Spaulding had allegedly embezzled the funds for his personal use, the chief said.
