BANGOR, Maine — A Bangor woman who was indicted by a Penobscot County grand jury in September on aggravated assault and criminal mischief charges is being held without bail after Bangor police found drugs and cash in her purse during a routine traffic stop on Thursday.
Lynda Johnson, 26, of Bangor was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over for a violation and because of bail conditions from her previous arrest was subject to police searches and prohibited from new criminal activity, Penobscot County Assistant District Attorney Marianne Lynch said Friday.
When Johnson was searched, Lynch said, police found cocaine, heroin and cash in her purse and charged her with one count each of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and heroin and with violating the condition of her prior arrest. The two Class A felonies carry a prison sentence of up to 30 years.
Johnson racked up another charge — trafficking in prison contraband — after a corrections officer at Penobscot County Jail found drugs hidden in a piece of paper in her clothing, Lynch said.
Johnson’s bail was revoked during an appearance at the Penobscot Judicial Center on Friday afternoon, Lynch said.
A hearing to consider withdrawing her bail revocation is set for April 6, Lynch said.
