Kindergarten registration
Registration for fall kindergarten classes in Regional School Unit 64 is open to children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15.
A birth certificate, a record of physical exam dated within six months before entry into kindergarten and a medical provider’s record of immunization will be required. Children will undergo a brief screening at the time of registration.
The registration schedule is:
- 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, Kenduskeag Elementary School, for Kenduskeag and Corinth children. 884-7979.
- 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, Stetson Elementary School, for Stetson children. 296-2571.
- 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, March 26, Bradford Elementary School, for Bradford and Hudson children. 327-1112.
Parents should call the appropriate school to schedule an appointment to register their child.
Hermon Middle School
HERMON — The Hermon Middle School Student Council recently conducted a “Penny War,” vying with other classes to collect the most pennies.”
Students knew only that a Hermon family needed help. Within 4 days, the students plotted their war strategies and collected $481.22, which included more than 24,330 pennies. The balance was made up of dimes, nickels, quarters and bills.
Winning with the most pennies collected was Mrs. Bull’s class, and coming in last, but with the most money raised was Mrs. Huskins class.
Orono High School
ORONO — After the recent premiere of “The Revenger’s Tragedy,” Orono High School drama students took their production to Brewer for district-level competition in the Maine Drama Festival. Jessica Walker and Tom Boss were named to the All Festival Cast. Emily Noyes earned the Judge’s Commendation for her work as script editor, dramaturge and director. Tom Boss earned the Judge’s Commendation for play writing.
In other accomplishments, OHS speech and debate team members learned that they have qualified as alternates to represent Maine at a second national tournament, this one sponsored by the prestigious National Speech and Debate Association (formerly National Forensic League). Alex Fergusson, Melissa St. Peter and Jessica Walker are alternates in the Humorous Interpretation category. Alex Fergusson and Kent Everett are alternates in Duo Interpretation.
South Kent School
BANGOR — Ryan Moore of Bangor, a junior at South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut, has been selected to be among 1,000 attendees at West Point’s prestigious Summer Leaders Experience in June.

STETSON — Gabrielle Flewelling of Stetson was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Mount Ida College in Newton, Massachusetts.
