PORTLAND, Maine — There are dozens of rusted up and abandoned bicycles in Portland and some city leaders want them gone.
They’re working on an ordinance that would allow them to cut the locks and toss out bikes that meet certain criteria. That includes bikes locked up for a month or longer and those with no tires, wheels or handle bars.
City officials say they’re a hazard and an eyesore. The City Council will take a final vote on the ordinance in April.
