PRESQUE ISLE — Baseball for All, which seeks to empower young girls through the game of baseball, is forming a team from Maine for girls ages 11-13. The team, called the Maine Polar Bears, will be coached by representatives of the athletic department at the University of Maine-Presque Isle and will play in a girls baseball national tournament that will be held May 30-June 4 in Kissimmee, Florida. Organizers hope to bring together 12 to 14 girls who would like to pursue the opportunity. BANGOR — The Maine Athletic Club’s Mark LeClerc and retired Maine high school basketball coach Bob Cimbollek are offering a basketball consulting service for players, teams and coaches.The service will offer individual lessons to players on offensive skills and basketball shooting day camps. BANGOR — The 2015 Husson University Donut Run on April 12 will feature a one-mile Munchkin Mile and a two-mile Donut Run that will consist of running a mile, eating a Dunkin’ Donut, then running another mile. The Munchkin Mile, for kids age 13 and under. Cost for the Munchkin Mile is $10. UNITY — The 33rd annual Unity College Spring 5K Road Race will be held Saturday, April 18, on Unity College campus. The course, which starts from the Unity College gymnasium, winds its way through the village of Unity. Typically 75-80 runners and walkers participate in the event, which is co-sponsored by the Central Maine Striders running club. Registration starts at 8 a.m. in the college’s Activities Building. AUGUSTA — Not Your Ordinary 5K Sunday, May 17, in the heart of Augusta. Registration opens at 8 a.m. at Capitol Park and the 5K kicks off at 9 a.m. for a timed run or walk with challenges along the route. This out-of-the-box fundraiser pushes you and your teammates to complete challenges that may include puzzles, art, construction, athletic feats, and problem-solving throughout a 5K course. ORONO — The Black Bear Marathon and Half Marathon will take place on June 21, on the University of Maine Campus in Orono. A Vendor Expo will be held June 20, in the University of Maine Fieldhouse. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. There is a 6-hour limit on the marathon course. There is an option to register for the early start time of 6:30 a.m. for those who feel they may need the extra hour to finish the marathon. Early start is not available for the half marathon. The half marathon course will start on campus and travel through Orono and Old Town back to the bike path on campus. The full marathon course is a double loop of the half.
