READFIELD, Maine — A mobile home on Butman Boulevard was destroyed by a fire on Monday morning, according to Readfield Fire Chief Lee Mank.

Mank said the blaze broke out shortly after 11 a.m., and the lone occupant of the home and his dog managed to get out safely.

Mank said heavy smoke was showing from the home and flames were spewing from the roof when firefighters arrived.

He added that windy conditions burned the home quicker. The fire started near a hot water heater, according to Mank, but a cause has not been determined. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.

Firefighters from Readfield, Mount Vernon, Manchester, Wayne and Vienna battled the blaze.
