BETHEL, Maine — State police Thursday said a man who died at Sunday River while skiing Wednesday was a resort employee.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland confirmed the man had been identified as Benjamin Taylor, 35, of Bethel.

Taylor was not working at the time of his death, according to McCausland.

A friend of Taylor’s reported seeing him ski off the Black Hole trail and found him unresponsive after colliding with trees, McCausland said.

The incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m.

Taylor, an experienced skier, was wearing a helmet.
