MADISON – Stanton V. Taylor, 59, passed away March 31, 2015, after fighting a courageous battle against cancer. He was born March 10, 1956, the youngest son of Philip and Evelyn (Rickards) Taylor.
Stan was employed as a custodian at Maplecrest Nursing Home, where he met his wife, Dorrie, in 1976. He then owned his own floor care business and eventually retired from Colby College. He enjoyed watching old Westerns and NASCAR on TV, listening to Johnny Cash, playing games on his computer, and staying in touch with family and friends through Facebook. His most cherished memories came from time spent with his family, especially when he was able to visit the Philippines.
In addition to his wife, Dorrie; and daughter, Mariza of Bangor, he is survived by several brothers and sisters; many nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, Alan Taylor of Anson; and his mother-in-law, Marion Currier. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the caring and supportive staff of Madison Area Health Center, Redington-Fairview General Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center and the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care.
A Mass of Christian burial and graveside service will be held in June. Memorial contributions may be made in Stanton’s name to Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, 361 Old Belgrade Road, Augusta, ME 04330.
