PARKMAN & SANGERVILLE – David E. Armstrong, 67, went home to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer, April 4, 2015. He was born in 1947, the son of Clyde and Phyllis (McKusick) Armstrong.
David graduated from Foxcroft Academy and Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute with a degree in building construction. For more than 40 years, he was co-owner of E.R. Palmer Lumber Co., Inc. A mason, David belonged to the Abner Wade Lodge 207 in Sangerville. He was also a lifetime member and officer of the Big Pine Gun Club and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. David was a dedicated tree farmer, avid sportsman, award winning marksman, and a cowboy at heart known by his black powder friends as “Crowhill Billy”. David’s children and grandsons were his pride and joy as he noted frequently, “It is all about family.”
David is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, LaVance Armstrong; a son, John Armstrong, and his wife, Brydie, of Sangerville; a daughter, Laura Reed and her husband, Todd, of Dover-Foxcroft; and four grandsons, John (JC) and David Armstrong and Joshua and Jacob Reed. He is also survived by his four siblings; a brother, Wayne Armstrong and his wife, Mary Jane, of Sangerville; a sister, Diane Norsworthy and her husband, Donald, of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, Glen Armstrong and his wife, Antoinette, of Garland; and a sister, Esther Bracy, and her husband, Steve, of Farmington; as well as several nephews, nieces, and cousins. David was predeceased by his parents.
A memorial service will be conducted Sunday April 12, 2015, at 4pm at the Grace Bible Church in Sangerville, with Pastor Chad Poland officiating.
