Founder’s Award

BANGOR — J C. Penney Company Inc. recently honored its top performing stores with the Founder’s Award at a special leadership conference in Dallas on March 25. The Award is the company’s highest distinction for leadership excellence, recognizing top performers from across the company.

At this year’s ceremony, only 104 of approximately 1,060 stores, six out of 52 districts and four out of 14 supply chain facilities received the award, including the JCPenney store located at the Bangor Mall, led by store manager Wendy Jacques.

The Founder’s Award is presented to teams that  excel in the areas of financial performance, customer and client service and business expertise.

Top 1200

BANGOR — Barron’s has announced that UBS Financial Adviser Robert C. Allen of Veazie has been included in Barron’s Top 1200 Financial Advisors list for 2015. He has been ranked No. 2 in Maine on the list.

This list is released annually to recognize financial advisers who have risen to the top in their industry and represent the 1,200 most influential advisers by state.

Allen credits his success to his outstanding investment team in Bangor and a sincere focus on putting clients first.

ORONO — A new market has opened in Orono. Layla’s Bazaar is a small grocery that features Mediterranean and Middle Eastern groceries including Halal meat, spices, groceries and gift items, according to a flyer that announced the store’s grand opening on March 20.
