TOWNSHIP 9, RANGE 5, Maine — A Greenville woman escaped serious injuries on Easter Sunday when her car collided with a moose on Route 11 just south of Ashland.

Olivia Bouchard, 19, was heading north in her 2000 Subaru Legacy just before 3 p.m. when a moose entered the roadway, Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris said Monday.

Bouchard was unable to avoid the moose and struck the animal, sending it vaulting over the hood of the car and through the windshield. Bouchard sustained numerous cuts from the shattered glass, the sergeant said. She was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle via Ashland Ambulance for treatment of the cuts.

She was wearing her seatbelt, according to Harris.
