Game notes: The Black Bears will attempt to get some work for its pitchers against the Terriers in the first of five midweek nonconference games this spring. UMaine was swept by Stony Brook on Saturday (8-5 in 13 innings, 3-1) and had the finale canceled because of snow and cold. The Bears are gearing up for a three-game weekend set at UMass Lowell. Thomas College of Waterville has lost three in a row and four of its last five. The Terriers, who play in the Division III North Atlantic Conference, were shut out 1-0 and 13-0 by Husson last Friday. Thomas has been shut out three times in the last five contests. The Terriers, coached by former UMaine catcher and assistant coach Greg King, have four players from Texas, three from Florida and two from Georgia. UMaine is expected to utilize a handful of pitchers as they have played only five games since March 14.
