SMYRNA, Maine — An Oakfield man who was arrested in February after leading state police on a chase through three southern Aroostook towns before being forcibly stopped has been indicted by the Aroostook County grand jury.

Christian M. McDonald, 26, of Oakfield, was indicted for operating after revocation, eluding, criminal speed and violation of bail conditions, Aroostook County District Attorney Todd Collins said on Monday. McDonald was among 19 people indicted by the grand jury late last month.

Sgt. Brian Harris said that McDonald failed to stop for Sgt. Alden Bustard of the Maine State Police, who was attempting to pull him over in Smyrna for a motor vehicle violation.

Instead, Harris said, McDonald took off at “high speeds” and attempted to elude Bustard.

Bustard, with Trooper Dennis Quint, chased McDonald from Smyrna to Linneus to River Road in Oakfield, where Bustard conducted a “vehicle immobilization” on McDonald’s pickup truck, Harris said.

McDonald subsequently lost control of the truck and became stuck in a snowbank.

He was arrested at the scene without further incident, Harris said.
