LEWISTON, Maine — Daniel Csaplar and Tim Corey each recorded two hits and drove in two runs to power the Colby College Mules to an 8-5 victory over the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers Tuesday at Leahey Baseball Field.

Andy Currier chipped in with three hits and an RBI for Colby (12-6) of Waterville while Zachary Ellenthal added two hits and an RBI. Daniel Schoenfeld earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing a hit and striking out two.

Dustin McCrossin sparked UMF (11-5) with three singles and an RBI while Grayson Beressi added two hits and drove in a run. Sean Cabaniss notched a double and Jimmy Neal tripled.

Husson, Bowdoin split

At the Winkin Complex in Bangor, Dennis O’Neil pitched eight shutout innings to help the Eagles earn the victory when they rallied for a run in the bottom of the ninth for a 1-0 win in the first game of a doubleheader.

Bowdoin won the second game 11-5.

In the first game, O’Neil gave up only four hits and two walks and struck out six.

Brandon Gendreau’s single to third plated Seth Freudenberger with the winning run. Freudenberger drew a one-out walk and then the Eagles loaded the bases when Ryan Rebar was hit by a pitch and Andrew Curran walked, setting up Gendreau’s winning hit.

Steve Hanscom pitched a hitless ninth to earn the win.

Gendreau and Kyle Bishop each finished with two hits for the Eagles.

In the second game, Aaron Rosen tripled, doubled and singled, driving in three runs, to power the Polar Bears by the Eagles. Chad Martin chipped in with a two-run triple and solo homer. Sam Canales added three singles and an RBI while Peter Cimini and Erik Jacobsen each added two hits.

Bishop sparked Husson with a double, single and RBI. Jordan Carter added two hits and an RBI.

Husson is 18-12 and Bowdoin is 9-14.

Women’s Lacrosse

UMF 16, MMA 6

At Ritchie Field in Castine, the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers jumped out to a 13-4 halftime lead and cruised by the Mariner Maritime Academy Mariners in North Atlantic Conference action.

Ayla Allen paced UMF (4-6 overall, 3-3 NAC) with five goals and an assist. Jaclyn Langevin added four goals while Maddi Kadnar, Carly Raymond and Mara Balboni each put in two. Patty Smith made three saves.

Ally Fuehrer led MMA (2-9, 2-5) with five goals and Rachael Redles contributed a goal and three assists. Ashlee Knight made eight saves.

Men’s Lacrosse

MMA 21, UMF 1

At Ritchie Field in Castine, Nicholas Betti recorded five goals and two assists to help Maine Maritime Academy roll by UMaine-Farmington in North Atlantic Conference action.

Peter Moore added four goals and six assists for MMA (6-6, 6-1), Mike Fuller chipped in with three goals and three assists and Dean Samuelson had two goals and three assists.

Casey Wrigley scored the only goal for UMF (0-12, 0-7).
