PORTLAND, Maine — Portland police have identified the two people involved in a shooting at 111 Elizabeth Road.

Arrested and charged with reckless conduct with a firearm was Christopher McMann, 18, who resides at the address at which the shooting took place, Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch said Friday night in a news release.

McMann is alleged to have fired multiple gunshots outside his home during a confrontation with Daniel Trimble-Smith, 20, of Standish, Malloch said.

Trimble-Smith was shot and is being treated at Maine Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery.

One shot entered a nearby home while the resident was inside but in another part of the house, Malloch said.

“The bullet completely penetrated an exterior wall, damaging furniture and other personal belongings,” he said.

Portland Police Department detectives are investigating the incident and are collecting and examining evidence. A car driven by Trimble-Smith has been impounded as part of the investigation.

Reckless conduct with a firearm is a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.

Additional charges are possible.
