PORTLAND, Maine — The Graffiti Busters are at it again, working to make Portland graffiti free.
LearningWorks and the city of Portland team up from mid-April until October to provide graffiti removal services to businesses at no cost to them.
Students who need community services credits help remove the paint, so organizers say it benefits everyone.
“For the city, it helps keep Portland nice and clean,” annual campaign director for LearningWorks Eric Knutsen said. “The benefits for the students, aside from just fulfilling their community service requirements, they’re also doing something, you know, that’s very meaningful and valuable in the community.”
The group has removed more than 500,000 square feet of graffiti since 1994.
