BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick man has been indicted on charges that include aggravated assault after police say he threatened a group of people at his home, cut an 18-year-old woman with a 10-inch butcher knife and assaulted another man.
Matthew Mansir, 24, of Brunswick was arrested early in the morning of Feb. 14 after police went to his home for a report Mansir had stabbed someone on the hand.
Five people who were with Mansir at the home reported he had “just gone off” after a minor disagreement and threatened them, then used a 10-inch butcher knife to cut the hand of an 18-year-old Lisbon woman, Brunswick Police Sgt. Paul Hansen said at the time.
Witnesses told police that when several guests tried to restrain Mansir, he pushed a 22-year-old man to the ground.
“The injury, luckily, was minor,” Hansen said of the knife wound. “There was a whole lot of room for that to go bad.”
A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Mansir on one count of Class B felony aggravated assault, one count each of Class C criminal threatening with a weapon and reckless conduct with a weapon, and one count of Class D misdemeanor assault.
